Sometimes the next step begins with the body.
Breathwork, HeartMath, biofeedback, self-hypnosis, and practical somatic skills for understanding how stress shows up—and finding ways to respond.
You can understand what is happening and still feel caught in it.
Stress is not only a thought. It can show up as a tight jaw, held breath, tense shoulders, restlessness, or the sense that you cannot quite settle.
My Counseling & Recovery work focuses on the psychological side: patterns, mindfulness, values, and the choices that shape your life. Stress Management brings more attention to the body—what you notice, how you respond, and what you can practice.
We work collaboratively, choosing tools that fit your goals and comfort rather than expecting one technique to work for everyone.
More than telling yourself to relax.
Breathwork
Gentle, comfortable breathing practices help you notice the relationship between breath, attention, and tension. We explore a pace you can use in ordinary life, without forcing your breathing or turning practice into a test.
HeartMath & HRV biofeedback
HeartMath combines heart-focused breathing, attention, and feedback about heart rhythm patterns. Heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback can make physiological responses more visible while you practice.
We discuss which tools are appropriate and whether a sensor or app would be useful before you obtain equipment.
Biofeedback
Biofeedback uses measurements of physiological activity to support learning. The feedback becomes a way to observe your responses and experiment with skills—not a score you have to achieve.
We discuss the type of feedback available and how it fits your goals.
Self-hypnosis & guided imagery
I am a certified clinical hypnotherapist. Self-hypnosis and guided imagery use focused attention and imagination as part of practice. We can explore skills you can use independently, with your participation and consent throughout.
Somatic awareness & grounding
Noticing contact with the ground, orienting to your surroundings, and attending to sensations can bring the work out of your head and into your immediate experience.
We begin with manageable practices and adjust according to what you notice.
Progressive relaxation & body awareness
Practices such as noticing muscle tension, gently releasing it, and moving attention through the body offer another way to explore stress. The aim is a usable skill, not a perfect state of calm.
Notice. Practice. Bring it into your life.
We start with the situations you want to handle differently and the signs of stress you already recognize. Then we choose a small number of practices, try them together, and pay attention to your experience.
Between sessions, brief practice can help you discover what is useful before stress is at its highest. We review what worked, what did not, and what needs adjusting.
These practices can complement appropriate counseling or other care. We discuss fit and any relevant health considerations before choosing a technique.
Choose the doorway that fits your goals.
