Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a professionally supported listening program for adults, offered remotely with individualized preparation, pacing, monitoring, and support.

Preparation. Support. A pace that fits you.

Remote SSP services are available beyond Texas where appropriate. Standalone SSP is distinct from Texas-licensed addiction counseling.
Why SSP?

A stronger foundation
for recovery and for life.

Knowing what to do and being able to do it are not always the same thing. Under stress, coping skills and good intentions can become harder to access.

SSP brings attention to physiological state alongside the insight, skills, and values that guide your recovery.

Why I use it

Understanding is part of the work. So is being able to respond differently.

As an addiction counselor and coach specializing in stress management and emotional self-regulation, I know that a person can sincerely intend to make different choices and still find that stress pulls them toward old reactions and ways of coping.

SSP offers another way to approach that difficulty by including physiological state in the work. I use it as an adjunct to appropriate counseling, recovery work, or coaching.

SSP is not a standalone cure for a diagnosis or a replacement for other care you need. We discuss suitability, your current care, and the support you will need before listening begins.

Frequently asked questions

Before you begin.

Do I have to be in addiction recovery?

No. My background is in addiction counseling, but adults interested in stress management and emotional self-regulation can also ask about SSP.

Can I do SSP remotely?

Yes. Preparation, guidance, pacing, check-ins, and follow-up are provided remotely. We discuss your location and whether services are appropriate there.

Does SSP replace counseling or other treatment?

No. I do not present SSP as a standalone cure. It may complement appropriate care, and we discuss how it fits into your broader plan.

How does the listening process work?

Preparation and pacing are individualized. Read How SSP Works for the process and the tools used for remote delivery.
